System Shock Reboot Launches A Kickstarter Campaign

Night Dive Studios video game developer reminds fans about the Kickstarter funding campaign that’s scheduled to begin next week for its potential reboot of System Shock.

While discussing with Polygon, CEO of Night Dive Studios Stephen Kick has announced that the developer’s upcoming title System Shock is not a remaster anymore, but a reboot, and that its Kickstarter campaign is going to launch next week at 12:00 PM PT on Tuesday, June 28.

Kick also stated that a brief demo of the game’s PC version will be available to fans through the gaming marketplaces of Steam, GOG, and Humble on the same day the Kickstarter begins for System Shock. As expected, those fans that pledge money to the crowdfunding project of Night Dive Studios’ System Shock reboot will receive various rewards.

These will contain a physical copy of the game and a collector’s edition box that’s getting launched on both PC and Xbox One, a miniature, a manual, a laptop Razer with reminiscent designs of System Shock, and alot more is coming with the designation of various backer tiers.

It’s important to note that although System Shock is still being worked on, the Kickstarter operation will be as well, for Night Dive Studios has declared other rewards are still being revised before the crowdfunding campaign launches. Not to mention, some fans upon playing the demo will likely find unfinished parts of the game.

As seen on the footage of Night Dive Studios’ initial gameplay trailer for its reboot of Looking Glass Technologies’ 1994 release of the same name, it seems like the developers intentions are to provide a fresh take on the title while keeping the feel and look of the original.

As CEO of Night Dive Studios Stephen Kick says it, the creators of System Shock are prepared to deliver an experience that’s both unfamiliar and yet unusual to simply be considered a remaster anymore.

The reboot of System Shock is planned to be released multi-platform sometime next year, and it’s Kickstarter campaign to begin on June 29, 2016.
