Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour Coming in October

Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour, which is a remake of Duke Nukem 3D has been announced by Gearbox Software. It will have new levels, music and much much more.

A countdown started a week ago in recognition of Duke Nukem’s 20th anniversary. The countdown ended today, and the already leaked Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour has officially been announced by Gearbox Software. The remake of 1996’s Duke Nukem 3D will be available for PS4, PC and Xbox One starting from October 11th at a price of $19.99, and it offers a lot of new content to attract Duke Nukem veterans and newcomers as well.

Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour has new levels created by the original designers for Duke Nukem 3D. These new levels will be available for exploration while listening to a new soundtrack for the game that was created by the original Duke Nukem 3D composer Lee Jackson. If all this isn’t enough, John St. John, the voice actor for Duke Nukem is returning to work on the new game, recording a few new one liners for Duke to shout while exploring the vast new levels.

Players will be able to play on the stages that were present in the 1996 version of Duke Nukem 3D, not just the new levels. They will be able to do this with the improved True3D Rendering graphics that Gearbox added into the game, which was seen in the leaked screenshots. Nostalgic fans can simply turn off the new visuals and play through the game with the 1996 graphics engine instead of the new one if they want.

Gearbox Software may look into reworking every Duke Nukem game as well, of course, only if DUke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour proves successful. The studio might even consider bringing back Duke Nukem Forever, no matter the game’s negative critical reception and controversy surrounding its Capture the Babe mode.

Duke Nukem 3D’s remake might be the first step to a new, full fledged Duke Nukem game. Of course, assuming it sells good, as it still remains to be seen whether there is a market for Duke’s crude style of humor. Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour will launch sometime this month, so there is no need to wait longer than that to see whether Gearbox’s remake was worth it.
