Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Announced For Nintendo Switch

During the Nintendo Switch presentation, Monolith Soft has announced that Xenoblade Chronicles will arrive to the Big N’s upcoming new console.

There were couple of big announcements made at the 2017 Nintendo Switch presentation, with different details about the Big N’s upcoming console-handheld hybrid being revealed, as well as the revealing of a few interesting new titles such as Super Mario Odyssey. But maybe one of the most pleasant surprises came from Monolith Soft when the studio finished off the presentation with a brand new trailer which showcased its upcoming new game: Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Lasting just over 1 minute and 40 seconds, Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s trailer tells us that the game will be continuation of the first Xenoblade Chronicles but with seems to be a new cast. Although the trailer doesn’t show if any of the characters from previous titles will be coming back, Monolith Soft’s upcoming game is really starting to shape up into a visual marvel with various beautiful and futuristic landscapes, as well as a number of interesting fantastical creatures.

In regards to when fans can expect to revisit the magical Xenoblade world again, no release date was announced in the trailer or by Monolith Soft, so fans can watch the game’s announcement trailer below in the meantime.

The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 reveal comes as a bit of a surprise as many were thinking that the game won’t be revealed for the Switch, but considering that nearly seven years have passed since the release of the first Xenoblade Chronicles and how that game itself is one of the greatest JRPGS ever, fans will surely be excited about what Monolith Soft has to offer in the upcoming sequel.

That being said, with the announcement of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and the Nintendo Switch set for launch in March, it’s unlikely that the game will be finished in time to be released alongside the Big N’s new console. Since the first Xenoblade Chronicles was received with positive reviews, and taking into account the words of Shigeru Miyamoto that “a delayed game is good in the end, but a rushed game is forever bad,” fans shouldn’t expect for the latest Xenoblade entry from Monolith Soft to be released until later on in 2017 at the earliest.

The launch date for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is unknown, but it will come for the Nintendo Switch.
