Those that are interested in buying the Legacy edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare might want to start clearing some hard drive space due to the installation requiring a massive 130GB.
After a French retailer sent out empty boxes of the game to those who pre-ordered Infinite Warfare, Charlie Intel tweeted an image of a game box and reported that the PlayStation 4 version of the game will require at least 130GB of space.
At the time of writing, those who pre-ordered the Legacy edition have been given early access to the Modern Warfare Remastered campaign, which is already around 40GB in size, which means that Infinite Warfare will take up anywhere between 70 to 90GB alone, however the exact size breakdown is not yet confirmed.
Granted that Activision regarded Modern Warfare Remastered as the studio’s “biggest bonus content ever”, a size requirement such as this comes as a bit of surprise. As a comparison, the previous two titles in the series, Black Ops 3 and Advanced Warfare, each of them required “only” 55GB of free space.
Even with the increasing space requirements of video games these days, the unusually large file size of the Legacy edition of Infinite Warfare is something that is odd and there might be a number of reasons for this. With last month’s reveal that both Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered will be compatible with the PlayStation 4 Pro, it could be that the addition space requirements is to take advantage of the upcoming console’s extra processing power.
One thing is certain though, with the release of Infinite Warfare just a month away, it won’t be long before players find out why the game requires a massive 130GB of Space.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered are coming out on November 4, 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
