Amazon announced Twitch Prime, which will provide free ‘game loot’ every month, discounts on pre-orders with Amazon and ad free Twitch viewing.
Since Amazon bought Twitch, the online streaming company, in August 2014 for 970$ million, everyone was wondering how they might leverage the company. Twitch fans had their ideas, including how the Twitch Turbo premium subscription will provide Amazon bonuses. Today, Amazon announced the launch of the Twitch Prime service, which is a special subscription full of bonuses for Twitch and Amazon fans.
Twitch Prime will, at its core, replace Twitch Turbo and include all that Twitch’s current subscription service offers. Things like ad-free Twitch viewing, custom chat colors, custom emoticons and a special chat badge which makes the user a Twcih Prime subscriber are obvious, but that’s not it. Twitch Prime will include a free channel subscription, and goodies including free games and DlCs.
Regarding special goodies that Twitch Prime will give to its subscribers, Amazon and Twitch have revealed the first month’s bonuses. Hearthstone players will be pleased and outraged at the same time, as Twitch Prime will include a new hero, Tyrande Whisperwind, a priest. Smite players will receive a “Boss Ymir” Twitch themed skin, and everyone will get a free Amazon game called Streamline on the day it comes out.
What Amazon is offering Twitch is a pretty outstanding deal, considering Twitch channel subscription cost 4.99$ and Twitch Turbo costs 8.99, 10.99$ a month for everything is a good deal, plus the Amazon Prime bonuses. Current Amazon Prime subscribers don’t have to pay any extra money to receive Twitch Prime fully just by paying for their current subscriptions.
Twitch Prime is now available for a 10.99$ a month or a 99$ annual subscription. Amazon Prime subscribers will get Twitch Prime for free. Twitch suggests that current Turbo subscribers switch to the new service, but won’t force the switch. Anyone happy with their Turbo badge and bonuses can continue to use their subscriptions, but from now on Twitch Turbo will be closed to any new subscribers.
