A retail promotional stand for Red Dead Redemption 2 confirms that the highly anticipated western sequel from Rockstar Games will release in fall 2017.
Unfortunately, there’s not much left to be gleaned from the Red Dead Redemption 2 promo stand, as it uses the known image of cowboy silhouettes against a setting sun. Fans have already tried to find out more from the image and gather some details, if any, but currently it’s all speculation. The only major notable item on the stand is its release date, which reads Autumn 2017 (or fall 2017 for non-UK residents).
What isn’t speculation, however, is the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 will arrive this year, if it isn’t getting postponed. Rockstar is a developer known for not rushing its games, and very rarely does the studio sticks to its first release date. For instance, the original release date for Grand Theft Auto 5 was early 2013, but the game was eventually delayed to the fall of that same year.
The main difference there is that GTA 5 was announced about two years before it actually released, whereas the teaser trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 debuted only couple of months ago and will release within a year or so. It seems that the long lead times are shrinking for the popular developers, as studios like Bethesda have learned it’s better to keep the gap between game announcement and release date as short as possible.
With that said, gamers haven’t been given much of Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar is known for planning things strategically, but it’s operating in uncharted territory as well. It says a lot that a little piece of marketing material would be worthy of attention, but anything that Rockstar Games decides to give up is better than nothing.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled to launch in fall 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One.
