The Last Guardian gets its Action Gameplay Trailer

With The Last Guardian approaching its release date, Sony releases a trailer that focuses on the action gameplay in the game.

The Last Guardian’s development team has been a veritable Odyssey, but after years of waiting Odyssey it finally going to arrive at Ithaca. Fimito Ueda’s project will arrive on PlayStation 4 on December 6th, which marks the end of a decade long effort. And now it’s time to make sure that The Last Guardian sells when released, which revolves around marketing with footage that highlight what the game has to offer, like the action gameplay trailer bellow.

Even though the trailer is only 30 seconds long, it shows a side of The Last Guardian that gamers haven’t seen before. The trailer is fast paced, visceral and portrays different variety conflict. There is a closer look to an enemy featured as well, which is a darker version of Trico, the protagonist’s beast bird friend. The masked, red eyed character ominously threatens The Last Guardian’s main character, but it doesn’t attack.

The rest of the trailer showcases a lot of chasing, thrilling platforming, and a lot of traversal across precarious environments. A small amount of the gameplay features the child protagonist alone, but it mostly focuses on how the protagonist can work with Trico to conquer more difficult challenges. And of course, there is the mystery that leads itself to all of Team Ico’s projects.

This trailer will definitely appeal even to the audience that will not truly buy into the game’s true appeal, an appeal that is much more difficult to portray in a 30 second trailer. Instead of that, the trailer’s focus is on the action in the game, which is far more appealing to the casual gamer. The action in Team Ico’s other games is of course excellent, and will likely be so again with The Last Guardian, but that is not why the games sell.
