Right after the game changing update 1.4 for Tom Clancy’s The Division, Ubisoft has detailed and revealed first gameplay for the following major expansion known as Survival.
During a new community stream on Twitch, community developer Hamish Bode revealed that the upcoming major content update called Survival will make a dramatic appearance on the Public Test Server today. Although not available for console fans, PC players can begin downloading the 7GB update, though no time frame has been specified as to when the new content arrives on the PTS servers for players use.
Even though Massive Entertainment has confirmed earlier that once update 1.4 launched its attention would focus back on Survival for 1.5, the studio has not shared any information regarding when the second expansion will be ready for public consumption. Right now, Bode gave players a taste of the new content by revealing the first gameplay through his stream.
Whether playing in PvP mode or player-versus-enemy, players will group up at the Terminal area of the Base of Operations that opened for the last major expansion. After a routine mission goes wrong because of a massive snowstorm takes down their chopper, players will have to survive long enough to extract. Outside factors such as hunger, cold, and crafting all play an important role in helping the player to survive because once a character dies, the game is over. Up to 24 players can partake in this new game mode, where weaker enemies stay on the boarders of the map and elite enemies with better gear patrol the middle.
As part of Ubisoft and Massive’s retooling, the Public Test Server was showcased couple of months ago in order to get players involved and provide feedback to make the experience better. So far the experiment has turned out to be successful as the most recent, game-changing update released fairly smoothly – something which can’t be said for previous updates. With Survival currently available on the PTS, Ubisoft is looking to carry on the momentum the game has seemingly reacquired.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
