    Persona 5 Has Been Delayed

Atlus USA announced that Persona 5 has been postponed further into 2017 and will now launch on April 4, but will also contain both Japanese and English audio.

Instead of releasing a Persona 5 with just English voice-over and later followed by the release of premium DLC for the Japanese audio files, Atlus will make the game dual-audio at launch. Every player will be able to download the Japanese audio files for free as DLC after setting up their game. It won’t be included in the disc, which might be frustrating to for those who don’t have a stable internet connection, but having the option available and free should satisfy many patiently waiting Persona fans.

What was the reason for Persona 5’s delay then? Remember that P5 has already launched in Japan, which means it’s in a complete state, meaning that the remaining work is left with Atlus USA’s localization team. Taken into consideration the size of the game, it’s understandable that Atlus has lots of work to do to prepare the game for English-speaking audiences, and as it seems the workload was beyond initial estimates. Thanks to some extra added dev time, this will allow the technical side of localization to implement dual-audio in time for launch.

The cherry on top of this sour news is that Atlus is unlocking a premium PlayStation 4 theme for free, including an exclusive Ryuiji Sakamoto avatar set. It’s only available in the Americas for the next 24 hours, while Europe will have to wait until November 24 to get their 24 hours of opportunity. It may not be much, but anything to help make the delay news bearable helps.

While everyone waits, Japan is already playing Persona 5 since September 15. Trying to avoid spoilers becomes increasingly difficult, but from all accounts it’s excellent. As a matter of fact, three weeks since the release of Persona 5, it became Atlus’ best seeling game ever in Japan – nearing half a million in sales that should satisfy parent company Sega.

Persona 5 is scheduled to release on April 4, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
