Hello Games officially announced that the survival and space exploration title No Man’s Sky is going to receive an update which will contain a base-building feature “soon.”
As stated by Hello Games, the next major update of No Man’s Sky is entitled “Foundation Update,” and will not only allow players to begin base-building, but also it is apparently setting the stage for further adjustments and alterations to come. However, the developer didn’t managed to provide specifics as to what the patch would feature, nor did it define a certain time frame for the update, as the studio only said it will arrive “soon.”
Although there’s not much to say as far as the contents for No Man’s Sky’s Foundation Update are concerned, Hello Games did hint at the controversy surrounding the game since its launch, which has included the developer getting backlash from players asking for refunds, having its own subbredit close because of the hateful criticism, and experiencing a strange hacking situation with its Twitter account. Furthermore, the studio has been under investigation by the Advertising Standards Authority for Claims of false advertisements, but Hello Games stayed positive that receptivity is key in winning back fans.
“The discussion around No Man’s Sky since release has been intense and dramatic. We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.
“Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone.”
With the developers of No Man’s Sky seemingly intent on providing the game’s players with a enjoyable experience by way of post-launch DLC, there’s always the possibility that the title’s user base will return in larger numbers if Hello Games follow through on its aim to satisfy fans. Naturally, there’s also the chance the next patch driving gamers even further away, but one can’t really know until all of the facts about the Foundation Update are in. Most importantly, Sean Murray promised folks that one of its past patches would make players “really happy,” but obviously, he was wrong on all accounts.
No Man’s Sky is currently available for PC and PlayStation 4.
