Publisher and developer Bethesda Game Studios has officially announced that its construction and management simulation mobile game, Fallout Shelter, will be coming to Xbox One next week.
As revealed in an Xbox Wire post, Bethesda plans on releasing Fallout Shelter for Xbox One and Windows 10 through the Xbox Store or Windows Store next Tuesday, February 7. According to information listed on Xbox Wire, the versions of Fallout Shelter on the Xbox One and Windows 10 stores will support Xbox Play Anywhere, which allows players to carry their progress and Achievements in between the two platforms.
While the forthcoming launch of Fallout Shelter on Xbox One and Windows 10 is definitely exciting to fans who game primarily on Microsoft platforms, Bethesda didn’t provide any further details as to how the game will play on either. For example, although the Xbox Wire post notes Fallout Shelter has been adapted for Xbox One controller compatibility, there weren’t any specifics about how it will operate.
For those unfamiliar, the coming of Fallout Shelter to Windows 10 doesn’t mark the first time that the construction and management simulation game has become playable on the PC. In fact, after Fallout Shelter’s initial launch in 2015 as a supplementary product meant to further promote the launch of the post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 4, PC players got the game last July, plus all of the title’s downloads released around then.
While on the subject of downloadable content in Fallout Shelter, since all of the other platforms for the game have been given updates like the addition of Dogmeat and cats, or the inclusion of Nuka World characters, it’s obvious that the Xbox One version of the title will be brought up-to-speed with the mobile and PC iterations. Taking all of this into account, if the first console port of Fallout Shelter to Xbox One ends up being a successful venture for Bethesda, it will be interesting to see if the game gets a PlayStation 4 release as well.
Fallout Shelter is currently available for Android and iOS devices, PC, and will launch on Xbox One on February 7, 2017.
