Update 2.4 will not only re-balance weapons in Destiny’s Rise of Iron expansion, but it will also introduce different changes to reward drops and the way 3v3 modes work.
Update 2.4 is going to make Public Events relevant once again. With the first Rise of Iron patch, Public Events will now turn into a source for legendary, destination materials, and experience, but only on the first completion. After that, farming public events will reap some rewards, but not nearly as many.
The update has also changed the Quest menu to ‘Progress’, apparently in an effort to help players better track how they are doing with seperate tasks. Besides that, the Record Books have been moved out of the Materials section and to their own category so that players can easily manage their inventory.
Truthfully, however, the more significant changes are those being made to PvP, both to the way rewards are distributed and the way specific modes handle scoring. One thing is balancing weapons in the Crucible, but for a while now it feels like rewards associated with PvP aren’t as plentiful.
Thankfully that should change after today, because Bungie is removing legendary engrams from the post-game loot table of all crucible modes. That means if players receive a drop they will get a weapon. For those that were farming for the Eyasluna this is especially good news, but we will have to wait and see how much this is going to improve drop rates.
Regarding PvP modes, the biggest change is the way heavy ammo works in Elimination modes, including Trials of Osiris. Heavy ammo will now spawn in one central location and players will need to fight for control of it. Basically, this makes the heavy ammo round less of a factor, and continues to favor head-on battles.
Destiny: Rise of Iron will launch on September 20, 2016, for PS4 and Xbox One.
