Fans of Battlefield 1 found out about a tease of two new multiplayer modes coming to the DICE and Electronic Arts first-person shooter, one of them being a Hardcore mode.
Those who have been participating in Battlefield 1’s EA and Origin Access might have noticed that there is a page in the title devoted to custom games under multiplayer. Up until the developer’s release of the title’s Early Enlister Edition, the particular page didn’t have anything posted, but now that the game has become available in Australia and New Zealand, it got updated with a tease of both the Hardcore and Fog of War modes.
As depicted in the screenshot below taken by the Reddit user known as FOGofGAMING, it features the two abovementioned Battlefield 1 game modes a “coming soon.” However, the EA DICE developers haven’t officially discussed either of them in the press, neither does the listing give any information about the upcoming modes except their potentiality of being released sometime in the future.
For gamers unacquainted with the Battlefield franchise, fans have favored the Hardcore mode for quite some time, as it changes the games’ difficulty and makes it realistic by removing the HUD, reducing health, enabling friendly fire, and much more. On the other hand, the details for Fog of War are similar to the name itself and much more vague.
Nonetheless, although Battlefield 1’s Fog of War mode lacks an official description, it doesn’t mean that there’s no room for speculation. Taking into consideration the fact that the game has a broad range of dynamic weather available across all of the title’s multiplayer maps, it’s safe to assume that Fog of War simply obscures players’ vision, with fog being present for the entire match instead of periodically coming to fruition.
Battlefield 1 is scheduled to launch on October 21, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
