Developer Studio Wildcard has released a Halloween-themed update for ARK: Survival Evolved on PC, called Fear Evolved 2, that features lots of zombie dodos and skeletal dinosaurs.
The update was released on Friday with little prior notice and will last until November 6 for the PC version of the game. Much like last year, most of the in-game zones have been transformed. The moon is now red, zombie Dodo birds can be found in the trees and skeletons of dinosaurs as far as the eye can see. More nice touches have been included, such as plenty of scarecrows and pumpking patches to go with multiple graves and even some giant pieces of candy corn. A short trailer for the update can be seen below.
New Halloween items can now be obtained for a limited time, as well as themed hats and clown masks. Those interested on getting into the fun will be pleased to know that right now, ARK: Survival Evolves is marked down to $15 and the game’s Scorched Earth expansion is discounted to $14 until November 1 during the Steam Halloween sale. Users on Xbox One should take now, though, that the update will not be coming to the console. Developer Studio Wildcard made a confirmation that the release is PC-only when Gamespot asked the question.
ARK: Survival Evolved is still in early access but it looks like it’s doing well for itself, having sold more than 5.5 million copies as it approaches its full release by the end of 2016. Studio Wildcard was assured in its product to announce few months ago that a free PC version of the game based on ARK’s arena spinoff Survival of the Fittest would no longer be available, which allowed for the developer to focus more on the main game.
Different titles with Halloween updates happening right now include a new multiplayer event in Gears of War 4 and a Halloween DLC pack for Dead by Daylight that features Michael Myers. Fans of Destiny decided to gather the updates that Bungie made to the title a little further by creating their own Halloween music video.
ARK: Survivor Evolved is now in Early Access, and it is scheduled for full release on Linux, Mac OS X, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One before 2016 ends.
