Xbox Live Play Anywhere Launches This September

Microsoft said that its Play Anywhere feature on Xbox One, firstly revealed during the company’s E3 2016 presentation, will be released in just a few short months.

The distinction between PC and console gamers has been the subject in many discussions and video game forum rants, but the specific difference between Xbox One and PC gamers has always felt like it were significantly smaller.

That’s mostly due to the fact that Microsoft is a pioneer of the computing industry long before it ever came up with the first Xbox, and has since remained closely tied to both PCs and consoles. Because of that, it wasn’t completely surprising when Microsoft announced their intentions of creating a cross-platform program called Play Anywhere, a feature that would give players both a PC and Xbox One version of a supported title when purchased for a platform. Now with just a month away from debuting the idea of Play Anywhere on the E3 2016 stage, Microsoft has revealed that Play Anywhere will launch on September 13, 2016.

While last month’s reveal was a bit unclear, Microsoft has explained that Xbox Play Anywhere won’t always support cross-play, so the service is expected to feature frequent updates for gamers that reveal which following titles are fully supported. The title that’s first to come on Play Anywhere is ReCore, which gets released on September 13, while more upcoming games with Play Anywhere support will include thrilling releases like Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4.

The gaming brand Microsoft has been a hot topic these couple of weeks, and the Play Anywhere program’s brave step towards merging the Xbox One and PC platforms’ respective gamers into a wider group of gamers should work as evidence that Microsoft is very interested in the video game industry. The recent announcement from Phil Spencer has confirmed that Microsoft isn’t backing out of gaming, however, regardless of how obvious it may seem that even now Microsoft is committed to the console and PC gaming markets, it doesn’t hurt to give fans reason to believe even more that is exactly the case.
