Telltale’s Batman Gets Patched in Order to Improve PC Performance

Telltale has released a new patch for Batman: The Telltale Series PC in order to improve performance, but certain players are still reporting issues with lag, framerates and more.

The release of Telltale’s latest episodic saga, Batman: The Telltale Series was met with a lot of criticism from PC players. Batman: The Telltale Series launched with quite a few bugs and problems that made the game almost unplayable. This varied from graphical problems, to sound that’s out of sync with the visuals and even mouse cursors getting stuck in an invisible box, and the game’s Steam page got hit with lots of negative reviews as a result.

Right as players began to fear that they’d be forced to wait for months for a fix, Telltale released a patch for the game in the hopes of improving PC performance.

Telltale said that they are aware that certain users have experienced performance issues. They also dismissed suggestions that the new game engine they use is the reason for the issues, further explaining that many of those issues have been due to running the game on integrated graphics rather than dedicated, or were the result of out of date drivers. Telltale told people to first make sure their drivers are up to date, then run the game. The patch will lead the game to automatically default on a dedicated graphics as well as add graphics settings to enable selection of Higher Performance Textures or Higher Quality Textures.

Telltale will continue having a challenge on their hands as they work on fixing the rest of these problems. They also say that they anticipate a launch on the Mac version pretty soon. Batman: Arkham Knight PC had a more troubled time that its Mac and Linux ports got canceled. Everyone that hopes to play Batman: The Telltale Series on Apple systems will wait with bated breath, crossing their fingers that they will get to play it despite the ongoing problems with the PC version.
