Dead Rising Will Get a PS4 Remaster According to Leaked Content

Trophies for a PlayStation 4 version of the first Dead Rising game appeared online, suggesting that Capcom is working on a remaster for current-gen consoles.

The first Dead Rising game has been an Xbox 360 exclusive since it got launched in August of 2006, but it seems like that’s about to change. Trophies have appeared online for a PlayStation 4 version of Dead Rising, suggesting that the game will receive a current-gen remaster ahead of the release of Dead Rising 4 later this year.

The artwork has been updated for the trophies, and a platinum trophy has been added, but other than that, they’re identical to the achievements on Xbox 360. This looks like it indicates that the new version of Dead Rising will not feature any new gameplay mechanics, but maybe it will get a visual upgrade, and for fans sake, the game’s spotty companion AI could receive some attention.

Although the trophies are for a PS4 version of Dead Rising, it’s quite imaginable that the remaster is probably coming to Xbox One as well. After all, Capcom and Microsoft seem to have a great connection, as Dead Rising 4 is a timed Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive, and the original Dead Rising continued to be an Xbox 360 exclusive for a decade. Additionally, Capcom prioritizes remasters to try to maximize its profits, and the more systems the Dead Rising remaster is available on, the more copies it can sell.

Naturally, that’s pure speculation at this point, as Capcom didn’t share too much information on the story details for Dead Rising 4. Nonetheless, with the game set to release in December, more information on the story should come soon, possibly as soon as next month. August 8th marks the 10 year anniversary of the launch of the first Dead Rising game – a great time to elaborate on what fans can expect from the next game in the series.

The Dead Rising remaster is in development for PS4.
