Batman: The Telltale Series Trailer Confirmed Launch on August 2

Telltale Games officially confirmed an August 2 release date for Batman: A Telltale Series’ first episode with a premiere trailer for the adventure game.

Telltale Games, as promised, delivered a release date for the upcoming Batman adventure game, alongside its world premiere trailer. Titled Real of Shadows, Batman’s first episode is going to launch on August 2 across all PC, console and mobile platforms. The full five episode series is available to pre order as a full season, at a price of 24.99$ or 22.49$ discount prior to launch.

Unlike previous Telltale game releases, the company remained completely quiet on plot teasers. Beyond the released world premier trailer, not much is known about the direction of the game’s first season. As seen from the trailer, it looks like Harvey Dent’s transformation into Two Face is a major storyline in the game. Before all that happens, Batman will face off against mobster Falcone. Of course, besides those battles, Batman will fight his dichotomous persona Bruce Wayne as well.

Some more major Batman franchise characters will be teased in this trailer, two of them are the major franchise love interests, Vicki Vale and Catwoman. The reveal of these two characters implies a major focus on the Batman/Bruce Wayne dichotomy, as Catwoman is Batman’s love interest and Vicki Vale Bruce’s. Batman’s faithful butler, Alfred, is also present, but the oddly missing characters are Batman’s gallery of rogues. With a couple of armored goons with machine guns shouldn’t count, this Batman series is looking like a massive mystery.

With any luck, this mystery of Telltale’s Batman series will not hold fans in suspense for longer than it needs to. For the first episode is a mere weeks away, but also Telltale plans on releasing the next four episodes before the end of 2016. This means that fans should get a Batman episode at a rate of one month. That’s the goal Telltale aims to struggle with, but considering how invested in the Batman game they are, with a new engine and all that, the odds are in favor for the team to keep their schedule.

As spoilers go, Telltale will do a special spoiler run of the first episode of Batman this week at SDCC. The event will be run by a panel featuring Batman’s voice actor, Troy Baker, who is also known for his voice acting work as the Joker. Anyone who wants a spoiler free mystery about Batman, should definitely avoid ANY Batman SDCC coverage.
