Blue Estate: The Game is a rail shooter based on the graphic novel of the same name. Taking place two years before the events in the comic book, Tony Luciano, son of mob boss Don Luciano, as he sets out to get back his favorite girl Cherry Popz who has been kidnapped by a rival crime gang.
You play as, alternatingly, mafioso Tony Luciano and mob hitman Clarence. Additional weapons such as shotguns an machine guns can be found to gain an advantage. These weapons, unlike your starting pistol, have limited ammunition and must be replenished with found ammo pickups.
Interactions such as opening doors or counterattacking as well as picking up items – health, slow-motion, guns – are done by doing a swiping motion in the instructed direction. Doing this quickly will grant extra bonus points.
When playing as Luciano, his hair will occasionally fall down over his eyes, requiring a sweep move to brush it off his face.
Headshots and groin shots will also give extra points, as will shooting certain objects found throughout the levels.
At certain locations in the levels the game will enter “shootout mode”, here you can take cover to avoid getting shot until you’ve picked off all the enemies and move on.
In addition to the story mode there is a more fast-paced “arcade” mode, which has no story scenes or quick-time events, which is for one player only.
In this mode the timer is constantly ticking down from five seconds, resetting when you kill an enemy. Getting headshots will charge your “slow-mo” meter, allowing you to trigger a temporary slow-motion effect once it’s full. Getting killstreaks will give you new weapons, which here have unlimited ammo.
After beating a level in either mode you will get ranked from F to S.
