An interesting new mod for The Last of Us takes the water gun from the Left Behind DLC and allows Ellie to use it during the regular campaign to fight off infected quickly.
The modder who took the water gun from The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC and brought it into the main game goes by the handle Freako. As a result, mod players now have the ability to take out the infected horde using water instead of bullets, and it looks like H20 is surprisingly effective. The mod is actually quite impressive, considering that The Last of Us is not a PC game and because of that is more open to tweaking.
The thing Freako did was altering some filed inside The Last of Us to pull the water gun and add it to Ellie’s inventory during a particular story section. Naturally, Ellie would only possess a knife, but the mod tweaks the game so it pulls any items from her inventory, which in this case happens to be a water gun.
It may not seem like it would work, but looks like the infected are reacting negatively to the water gun somehow, falling to the ground after being sprayed couple of times. What really makes the water gun do damage is unclear, but seeing Ellie making quick work of them using a Super Soaker is pretty fun to watch. It’s a shame the mod couldn’t extend to the entire game; it would’ve made dealing with the infected a lot more easier.
It might be strange to still talk about a game almost three years after its release, but The Last of Us clearly isn’t any old game. The post apocalyptic tale from Naughty Dog set a new benchmark for narrative in gaming and with that has come a ton of expectations for competing games moving forward.
Right now, the question that’s on all of our minds is when gamers might see a sequel to The Last of Us. It’s obvious for some time that Naughty Dog is working on The Last of us 2 thanks to leaks from voice actors, but Uncharted 4 was the main focus. Nonetheless, with Uncharted 4 out and gathering its own followers, many are wondering when it’s time to return to Joel and Ellie’s story.
