An action RPG created in the hack-and-slash spirit of Diablo, Dawn of Magic has you playing one of four magic-wielding mages in a campaign spanning five themed acts. An immortal named Modo has been banished from the afterlife and is forced to live on Earth as a lowly human. Humiliated and stripped of his magic, Modo vows to reclaim his powers and return to the afterlife by destroying the planet. Players can help, hinder, or act indifferent to Modo’s nefarious plans by choosing one of three alignments before starting. The gameplay otherwise follows the action-RPG tradition of venturing into dangerous realms to slay monsters for both treasure and experience.
Characters will gradually acquire new skills and learn spells in one of 12 schools of magic, from fire and water to curse and blood. Each school features eight spells to master, with skills available in the areas of enchanting, crafting, morphing, and more. Online support for up to 16 players is also included, with competitive or cooperative battles taking place on a single map. Multiplayer modes include free-for-all, team battle, capture-the-flag, and survival, with the latter featuring waves of monsters to defeat. Characters are also free to trade with one another in dedicated maps reserved for commerce.
