Steep ‘Alaska’ DLC Announced, Update Details Revealed

Ubisoft announced the upcoming “Alaska” DLC that’s supposed to hit to its open-world sports game Steep very soon, and detailed the additions included in the title’s latest update.

Ubisoft has announced that a new DLC, focused on the powdery Alaskan mountain range, will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One users on February 10, 2017. Even though the game publisher has not yet revealed any additional info about the “Alaska” DLC mountain, such as what types of ski/boarding runs and challenges will be included, it has stated that it will be completely free to download. Ubisoft also shared a look at the DLC’s map, which details points of interests and available playstyles.

The “Alaska” DLC announcement follows behind the game’s latest update closely, which was published yesterday. In a YouTube video posted on Ubisoft’s channel, Ubisoft’s Community Developer Thibault Zimmer and Steep Game Director Arnaud Ragot announced that a new patch update would be implemented to Steep. Both of them gave fans the details of the major improvements and additions bundled in the 1.04 update, in which many community suggested tweaks are included.

Steep’s 1.04 patch will have new features like a live page that keeps players updated on rankings and scored in the Steep World Tour, the competitive tournament all users can participate in; challenges created by the community and made exclusively for in-game players; additional customization items; and a brand new dashboard that shows important game and content information.

In addition, the G-force system got a big facelift, especially what happens when a player gets hit, and improvements to jumps and tricks were done to make things “more fair and more clear,” as stated by Ragot. Steep players are really excited about two things, however, the option to toggle and hide the Heads Up Display while riding and the Director Mode, which gives players more intuitive in-game screen-recording abilities.

Steep was released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on December 2, 2016. Players will be able to get the game’s “Alaska” DLC on February 10, 2017.
