Prey Gameplay Confirmed for The Game Awards 2016

The host of The Game Awards 2016, Geoff Keighley, reveals that Arkane Studios’ upcoming shooter Prey will have new gameplay footage debuting at the award show.

Yesterday Geoff Keighley decided to reveal yet another of The Game Awards 2016’s big premiers. Bethesda, who has made early announcements at The Game Awards, back when it was called the Spike Video Game Awards, will be taking the stage once more. The publisher will introduce more of the revamped first-person shooter Prey, which is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.

As stated by Keighley, there will be a worldwide debut of new gameplay for Prey. Prey was officially announced at E3, but Bethesda waited until Gamescom to show the first gameplay for Arkane Studios’ game. The trailer featured some very interesting things, as well as the main character transforming into a coffee cup to slip through a small window and using pyromancy to finish off some enemies. It’ll be interesting to see what parts of Prey Bethesda will want to share next.

Prey isn’t the first game set to premiere new footage or gameplay during the event. Prey will be the third game officially confirmed, with at least one other unofficially confirmed and few others rumored. Early iterations of the awards show have included anywhere between 5 and 15 announcements, so it’s expected for Geoff Keighley to share more in the days ahead. These are the officially confirmed games that will premier on December 1:

    – Mass Effect: Andromeda – Gameplay Debut
    – The Walking Dead: A New Frontier – Gameplay “Extended Look”
    – Prey – New Gameplay Debut

Randy Pitchford of Gearbox Software has unofficially told fans via Twitter to look forward to something special during The Game Awards. He made the announcement specifically in relation to a fan that mentioned how a Gears of War and Duke Nukem crossover game would be interesting. This has lead to speculation about Gearbox’s next Duke Nukem game being announced at the event. On the other hand, the announcement could be related to a Bulletstorm Remastered rumor that’s been circling around for months based on a ratings board leak.

The Game Awards 2016, hosted by Geoff Keighley, will be aired live on December 1 starting at 5:30pm PT.
