Registration for Steep’s Closed Alpha Is Now Open

The surprise game of E3 from Ubisoft, Steep, opens beta registration for gamers interested in trying the open-world extreme sports game before it’s released in December.

Despite the fact that a new Assassin’s Creed game hasn’t been released, 2016 is a big year for Ubisoft. In the Spring, the publisher launched Far Cry Primal, alongside its highly anticipated cover-shooter, Tom Clancy’s The Division.

In the following months, Ubisoft is going to release Just Dance 2017, Watch Dogs 2, and Steep.

Even though most of these were expected, the last one on the list, Steep, has been a surprise reveal at this summer’s E3 conference. While Ubisoft didn’t shared a ton of information about the game at the time, it revealed enough to get gamers hyped about the title. And now, with just a few months left until release, gamers will get an opportunity to start playing Steep via Ubisoft’s beta tests.

Gamers can register for the beta phases for their platform of choice by heading over to the Steep page on Ubisoft’s website. The game is planned to come out on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, so unfortunately legacy console owners won’t get a chance to participate. Gamers will need to have a Ubisoft Club account to complete the registration.

There’s currently no fixed date for when the beta phases will happen, but chances are good that it will start sometime in October. With the game currently scheduled to release on December 2nd, a beta in October will give Ubisoft enough time to make any necessary tweaks to the game before its public launch.

This year, Steep has been of the largest surprises at E3, considering nothing had been revealed or shared about it before it was announced on the Ubisoft stage. The open-world extreme sports game is going to focus on carving out a new genre of sports games that will make the most of current generation consoles specs and abilities. Its ambitious premise looks to throw players into the adrenaline-pounding world of extreme sports, from snowboarding and snow skiing, to wingsuit flying and paragliding.

Steep will launch on December 2, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
