There are reports that indicate that Sony is cancelling pre-orders of the racing title, Gran Turismo Sport, citing need for the creation of a revised pre-order due to the game’s delay.
Gran Turismo Sport has had its own fair share of difficulties during development, there is no doubt about that. Nevertheless, there is still a great buzz that surrounds the game, with its FIA sponsored tournaments and potential to make the franchise’s place at the top of all racing games. Those improvements though, come at a high cost. Unfortunately, a lot of problems have arisen, which results in Gran Turismo Sport being delayer into 2017.
Now it appears as though the delay have pushed both Sony and Polyphony Digital into taking further measures. According to reports from TeamVVV, some pre-order customers of Gran Turismo have received an email notification that their pre-order of the game has been cancelled. This step was taken because of the lack of a new release date.
They announced on the 30th August 2016 that the release of Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed until 2017. They also said that a release date is unknown at the moment, but they have decided to cancel all pre-orders made for the game and refund everyone’s payment.
Pre-orders will become available after the companies have their release date, but it won’t be a surprise if gamers hesitate to pre-order the game again. Many gamers see delays of the sort as some major issues behind the scenes, Driveclub being a notable example, and fans of Gran Turismo in general could be forgiven for having a nagging doubt over how well the game is shaping up. The title has already lost the likes of a planned beta and dynamic weather after all.
That being said, if Polyphony Digital is able to follow through the reasons for delaying the game, to make Gran Turismo Sport the best Gran Turismo up to date, then there is still hope for the title. Everyone is hoping there will be a new release date soon.
