Lots of fans of the Spider-Man comic books can’t wait to get their hands on the upcoming PS4 exclusive from Insomniac Games. There may be some reason for this excitement, too, with the game apparently set to “show the world why this character is so awesome.”
The news comes courtesy of Bill Rosemann, Creative Director at Marvel Games, who was giving a keynote at DICE Summit 2017. As quoted by DualShockers, Rosemann talked about the upcoming Spider-Man game from Insomniac, as well as how Marvel Games, Insomniac, and Sony Interactive Entertainment all share the same ideals when it comes to bringing Spidey to the video game realm most effectively.
In fact, Rosemann discussed the relationship with the teams at Marvel Games and Insomniac. The offices of the two companies are only ten minutes away from each other, so it seems like the teams meet up for lunch and talk about Spider-Man. At one point, the conversation shifted to how people had first got into Spider-Man, and the result was interesting. “We all realized we had the same story,” said the Marvel director. “We learned about him when we were very little. Not only that, we all realized that we all owned the same Spider-Man underoos back in the day.”
Rosemann went on to talk about how this has driven the development of the project from a place of love. “This is our purpose: to show the world why this character is so awesome. To bring this fictional world into the real world.” Furthermore, the personal story of the development team is also pushing the game in the right direction. “We’re going to concentrate on our life’s journey into this game, to celebrate him with the world.”
This is probably good news for readers of Spider-Man comics in general, and fans will be hoping that the passion of those making the game will pay dividends in the final products. Right now, the title looks pretty impressive, and many are happy with the E3 trailer shot on a normal PS4. Let’s hope the web-slinging gameplay matches up to the visuals.
