Couple of evidence reveal that Skate 3 will be added to the Xbox One backward compatibility list imminently, after being requested by fans for months.
At the time of writing, there’s no official info from Microsoft that Skate 3 is planned to become backward compatible. However, there are few reasons which indicate that the game will become available on the Xbox One console sooner rather than later. For starters, some users report that for them the game’s DLC is showing up as free on the Xbox Store. While this doesn’t exactly confirm backward compatibility support, various companies have made add-ons free in order to mark some of their games being added to the list.
It’s also been spotted that the price of Skate 3 itself has dropped down for some users in certain locations. Similar to when Red Dead Redemption was recently made backward compatible, it would be wise for EA to put the game on sale once support is officially introduced – so an announcement may soon follow.
Lastly, and perhaps most effectively, reports have recently came in that an image advertising backward compatibility for Skate 3 has been spotted on the Xbox One dashboard by a small group of users. If these reports are true, it points to the game being available within the next couple of days.
The Skate series have managed to carve out its own niche in the extreme sports genre by defining itself against the arcade stylings of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise. Instead of focusing on high scores and larger than life stunts, Skate was leaning more towards nailing the feeling of executing a certain trick, or pulling off a particular run.
Three mainline Skate games were made available before the series ran out of steam. Fans have requested the games to be made backward compatible for some time, hoping that renewed interest could prompt EA to think about making a sequel.
Skate 3 is currently available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
