Silent-Hill Inspired Horror Game Husk Gets Trailer

IMGN.PRO and UndeadScout release a new trailer for the Silent Hill and Twin Peaks-inspired horror game Husk, unveiling the game’s story and release date.

In Husk, players will be able to control protagonist Matthew Palmer, who wakes up in the deserted town of Shivercliff in 1995 after being in a train wreck. Similar to the heroes of the Silent Hill games, Matthew chooses to search the mysterious town for clues to his predicament, as well as locating his wife and daughter, who went missing after the crash. The tone is dark and serious, although some have complained that the narration in the trailer is a little cheesy. Nevertheless, it could be that the developer was trying to pay tribute to the noir-style of Twin Peaks, which is said to be one of Husk’s other inspirations.

It is said that the gameplay in Husk will be “classic survival horror,” with players exploring Shivercliff, solving puzzles, preserving ammo, and fighting off deadly monsters. The trailer shows off at least one of the monsters Matthew will have to take care of in the game, which seems to be a humanoid monsters with great jumping ability. To keep the beast at bay, Matthew loads a magnum revolver, though we don’t get to see him actually fire the weapon in the trailer.

After the cancellation of Silent Hills and Konami removing P.T. from the PlayStation Store, fans of horror games can always appreciate a new game that tries to resurrect the Silent Hill spirit. However, some have been a bit concerned regarding Husk, pointing out the cheesy narration, including the comically slow way Matthew reloads his revolver. It could be that part of the trailer was slowed down in order to give players a good look at the reload animation, but despite that, it does look off.

Even though some may be skeptical about Husk, it’s worth pointing out that the trailer doesn’t show much, and the final product could be a well-polished horror game. The trailer avoids showing anything really all that scary, but for all we know, Husk could one day join the ranks of scariest video games when it releases to the public in a few weeks.

Husk will launch on February 3rd for PC.
