Audiences in North America currently have the chance to capitalize on the official release of Pokemon Sun and Moon’s first mythical creature from the games.
As indicated in a press release from The Pokemon Company, the mythical Magearna is an event-only Legendary Pokemon in the games. What’s interesting is that the creature is to be caught in a different way than any other Event Pokemon, with others likely getting the same treatment down the road in the Pokemon Sun and Moon titles. In order to retrieve Magearna, fans must finish the main story, then open the QR Scanner function, line up the QR code for Magearna while pressing the R Button, and then head to the deliveryman at the Antiquities of the Ages shop in Hau’oli City to get the creature, and finally, save the game. Those who have officially beaten the main game of Pokemon Sun and Moon can use the QR code directly below to obtain their Magearna and add it to their Pokedexes.
Those worried of not being able to beat Pokemon Sun and Moon on time in order to retrieve Magearna will be glad to know that the QR code is available indefinitely with no expiration date. That being said, players who have yet to complete the games will still have the opportunity to get a mythical creature, so there’s no need to rush when it comes to playing through the titles.
Magearna appears onto the scene in Pokemon Sun and Moon at Level 50, and she knows the Soul-Heart ability, which happens to raise her special attack every time a Pokemon faints. Also, she arrives holding a Bottle Cap which is used for Hyper Training to upgrade the stats of a Pokemon that has hit Level 100. Additionally, she comes into the games knowing Fleur Cannon, Flash Cannon, Lucky Chant, and Helping Hand.
Pokemon Sun and Moon are currently available for Nintendo 2DS and 3DS devices.
