Maybe wierd name for a game but a wierd game to. Papo & Yo is a fantasy adventure video game

that has a very uniqie way of methaphorically expressing and telling the story behind the events

in plain view as they are developing. The story is about a brazilian boy named Quico who is abused

by his alcoholic father so, he enters a dream like favela and meets a docile creature named Monster.

This game is a puzzle-like one and uses both the Monster and the available environment by making

them available for manipulation by the boy, so Quico has a wide range of ways of manipulation with

the world that he is in, and all that is in totally unimaginable and unthinkable ways. This feature makes

the game super funny, extra enjoyable and very pleasing and when you add the music… Voila! Ecstasy

of joy. Quico, through his journey is accompanied by his favourite toy, a robot named Lula and a young

girl named Alejandra who initially sees him as a threat but then they become strongly bonded and she

is his guide. As they advence through the world, Quico recalls his past memories in his dreams, a scene

of his abusive alcoholic father running over a person with his car in a dark rainstorm and also his shadow

sometimes appears as of the Monster resembling that his father is the Monster who gets enraged when

he eats a frog which symbolically is the alcohol that the father drinks. Quico mainly manages to control

Monster but at one point he flies off the handle and starts chasing Quico and Alejandra. Alejandra

manages to show Quico the way to the Shaman who supposedly will cure the Monster’s anger but

then comes one really game-spoiling event that maybe ruins the game but however, apart from that

(this game reflects true story so no one asks what we as audience want), it is one fantastic game.

When he reaches the Shamans’ place he finds no Shaman, just a voice that tells him that the Monster

cannot be cured and he must let him go. So Quico has no other option but to reluctantly push Monster

into the abyss and to go back in the real world.
