4A Games, developer of the Metro series, posted a few mysterious images on Facebook and Twitter that point towards this developer’s next gaming project.
With Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light being surprise hits of the last gaming generation, the titles gained a cult following of players impressed by the brooding atmosphere and tense action present in both games. Now, 4A Games has teased fans with a few images that lead towards their next game.
The developer took the liberty of leaving some cryptic suggestions for their followers on their social media accounts. On Facebook, the developer shared a close up, cropped image that shows a gloved hand holding some sort of a weapon. There have been a lot of discussions and thoughts on what the developer is doing, so they were told to give everyone a hand.
In the meantime, the Twitter channel was as well mysterious. Again, a close up image was shared, along with a statement saying “What are we making, well here is a hand to work it out.” anyone interested can see the tweet bellow the news.
There isn’t a lot going on from either one of these images, but some things may stand out to fans of the Metro games. For one thing, players who have played the Metro: Redux collection will no doubt notice that both images have more of a clean, bright, science fiction vibe than the dark and decay of the Metro games. This suggests that the new project is not the same as the Metro franchise.
With that being said, if we take 4A Games’ previous comments, this new title looks like it might fit into the Metro series. The company previously advised that more Metro games are in development, and that the developer will be looking towards further AAA development opportunities. This summer, 4A Games confirmed that it has two projects in development, meaning that a new Metro game could be on the way.
One thing is certain, the publisher Deep Silver has an eye on 4A Games and on the Metro series. This publisher had previously said that after it took over the franchise from THQ it would expand the series to a bigger audience through a commitment to higher quality and through strategic investments in the brand. A long has passed since those promises were made, but, at least 4A Games looks ready to reveal what it has planned next.
