After many speculations about a definitive edition of Metal Gear Solid 5, Konami officially announced that a new bundle called Metal Gear Solid 5: The Definitive Edition is on it’s way.
It’s been couple of weeks since Konami revealed Metal Gear Survive and has now followed that up by announcing the upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Definitive Experience. The new bundle will launch on October in the US and on October 13 in the UK, and will have both Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, including all the available DLC released for both games.
With rumors over the existence of a definitive edition of Metal Gear Solid 5 starting to pile up last month, the announcement of this new bundle isn’t too surprising. Granted that Metal Gear Survive is a smaller scale spin-off not featuring any of the franchise’s beloved core characters – something fans aren’t looking forward to – the upcoming re-release of Metal Gear Solid 5 should appease fans for a short while.
But with fans still disappointed over the treatment of Kojima, the seemingly unwise Metal Gear Survive continuation, and other questionable decisions made in the past few couple of years, Konami will have to do more than that if they want to bring back fans, and repackaging all the Metal Gear Solid 5 content in one convenient bundle is a small in the right direction.
If Metal Gear Solid 5: The Definitive Experience sells well when it launches on October – and judging by the positive reviews of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, there’s a good chance of it doing so – maybe this could give Konami the motivation they needed to develop a proper, full-fledged Metal Gear entry instead of banking on the franchise’s goodwill and Metal Gear Solid pachinko machines.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Definitive Experience is going to release on October 11 in the US and October 13 in the UK for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
