Gun Media developers have released a new trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game, which reveals that the title will bring back Tommy Jarvis as a character in the game.
Although Friday the 13th: The Game got its launch pushed back in 2016 and was delayed to implement a single-player campaign, the postponement has given developers at Gun Media enough time to polish the title more fully in other areas as well in order to make for an all-around better product. For example, the game’s creators have now confirmed it was possible to fulfill a much-desired fan request beyond its Kickstarter stretch goals by revealing that the character Tommy Jarvis will show up in the new game as a playable character portrayed by actor Thom Mathews.
As stated by RelyOnHorror, fans will be able to take on the role of Jarvis by working beside the title’s camp counselors as they try to survive while Jason attempts to kill them in myriad ways. As seen in the announcement trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game below, Jarvis even shouts his well known line of calling Jason a “maggot head” that the character made famous in Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives.
The trailer shows Jarvis wielding a shotgun, but not much else is known about his abilities in Friday the 13th: The Game beyond that, because of the clip being too short. That being said, it will be interesting to see if the character will have the ability to counter any of Jason’s kills in any way or if he has any special features in order to set him apart and make him considerably more effective than his camp counselor counterparts.
Those who are looking forward on Jarvis’ addition to Friday the 13th: The Game, they will probably have to wait until the horror title’s launch in spring 2017 to use the character, but fans will still be able to try out the release before it officially arrives. Those who made a contribution to Gun Media’s Kickstarter campaign for the title and have already pre-ordered their copy of Friday the 13th: The Game will be acquainted with a hands-on preview of its multiplayer by way of a PC beta soon enough.
Friday the 13th: The Game is scheduled to launch sometime in Spring 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
