Ubisoft officially announced the upcoming availability of a closed beta for its hack-and-slash title, For Honor, with fans being able to sign up now.
Ubisoft announced it today in an official blog post on the game’s website, encouraging fans to register for a chance to play the closed beta by signing up. In addition, the company used the declaration of the beta to reveal a For Honor promotion called “War of the Factions,” which will allow those signing up for the beta pledge their allegiance to one of the game’s three groups of either Samurai, Vikings, or Knights.
As stated by Ubisoft, once the For Honor beta goes live, it will track all multiplayer progress for all platforms and the different factions. The company also revealed that everyone who decides to participate in the closed beta will receive a reward in the form of a badge for their chosen faction, while players who fought beside the winning faction will get an additional bonus. However, Ubisoft is currently keeping the extra prize a secret.
In For Honor’s closed beta, the type of characters that players will be able to choose will range from 12 different warriors that belong to the three aforementioned factions. Ubisoft also used the beta announcement as a means to share more details about two of the Heavy-class heroes, as well as a new Assassin fighter.
As far as For Honor’s Heavy fighters go, one is called the Shugoki from the Samurai clan, and they wield the kanabo – a large spiked club – while the Vikings are set to receive Warlords, which use a sword and shield. The Assassin fighter will take up arms with the Knights, and they carry a sword in one hand and dagger in the other, which helps them perform quick, efficient kills on the battlefield.
Apart from the news of For Honor’s closed beta and new heroes, Ubisoft announced a new in-game feature called Faction War, which is to be a “persistent cross-platform conflict” between the three factions. As the company described it, players will earn what are called “War Assets” based on how they performed in a specific match after pledging their sword to a certain clan. These units can be used to help other players conquer and defend territories during a 10-week competitive multiplayer season, which will reset after rewards are given out based on one’s rank of their faction.
For Honor is scheduled to launch in February 14, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
