Haruyoshi Sawatari, Final Fantasy XV’s DLC director, revealed the final DLC expansion for the game which will add online co-op.
A decade in development has passed and now Final Fantasy XV has gone gold. Square Enix pulled the curtain back on the game’s sixth and final piece of DLC, so that gamers know what to expect from its season pass and how the long awaited experience will be extended in 2017. The DLC’s director, Haruyoshi Sawatari, said that the final DLC pack for Final Fantasy XV will add a 4 player online co-op to the game.
The new DLC pack for Final Fantasy XV is called the Comrades pack. One player will play as Noctis, while everyone else will take control of his party members as they go in online adventures. It has been suggested that this content will take players to completely new locations that can’t be found in the base game, but Sawatari stressed out that the multiplayer DLC for Final Fantasy XV is still under planning.
The DLC team at Square Enix will want to take its time to add multiplayer in the game. Outside of a few MMORPGs like Final Fantasy 11 and 14, multiplayer hasn’t been a focus of main series Final Fantasy games. As a matter of fact, Final Fantasy 15 will be the first non-MMO game in the series to have multiplayer at all, and if not implemented well, it could turn off fans on buying the season pass.
The actual release window for the multiplayer DLC isn’t known yet, but one thing is for certain: the post launch team for Final Fantasy 15 has its hands full for sure. Multiplayer aside, the team is working on item packs, cosmetics and the story episodes with three different playable characters , and this is not to mention the PlayStation VR experience that is in the works for the game. Everyone is hoping that Final Fantasy 15 is the hit Square Enix wants it to be so that all this hard work pays off, and faith is restored in the Final Fantasy brand name.
