Final Fantasy 15 Will Have PS4 Pro Support

Final Fantasy 15’s game director, Hajime Tabata, has confirmed that the upcoming JRPG is going to support the PlayStation 4 Pro platform and will look better at launch on that console.

While the team at Square Enix has been busy lately with demonstrating the Final Fantasy 15 game engine and world building elements, Tabata’s answer concerning the support for PS4 Pro and what that feature would entail has been slightly postponed. Today, however, those who plan on getting Sony’s next-gen PS4 can collectively rejoice, as Tabata confirmed in an interview with French website Gameblow that Final Fantasy 15 will certainly have PS4 Pro support at launch.

As stated by Tabata, the team that’s working on Final Fantasy 15 has recently become aware of the plans for PS4 Pro console, and as a result they haven’t had time to fully take advantage of the new hardware. Tabata stated that due to Final Fantasy 15’s launch preparations, Square Enix hasn’t been capable of showing “satisfying” demonstrations of the game’s upgraded graphics on the PS4 Pro, and has instead concentrated on other things while making the final touches on one of the 2016 holiday season’s most anticipated games.

Fans may recall, however, that Final Fantasy 15 did receive a PS4 Pro demo already during the Tokyo Game Show earlier this year. Tabata said that they’ve demonstrated a version there that was made specifically for that event and focused on enhancing the game’s cosmetics without changing the game itself. Tabata also confirmed that the finished Pro version of Final Fantasy 15 will have even more features and that the PS4 Pro Final Fantasy 15 experience will be significantly better and visually superior.

Now that there’s a clear confirmation of a visual upgrade for Final Fantasy 15 on the PS4 Pro, Sony and Square will both have to wait and see if the announcement will influence both the game and the console’s launch sales, especially in Japan.

Final Fantasy 15 will launch on November 29, 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One.
