Publisher and developer Bethesda Softworks has officially announced that the PlayStation 4 Pro update for Fallout 4 will add high-res textures.
Couple of months ago, Bethesda announced that Fallout 4 would be getting PS4 Pro support in one of the game’s next major updates in order to take advantage of the newly added power to Sony’s upgraded system. Now, the publisher and developer has confirmed that a week from now, the PlayStation 4 Pro version of Fallout 4 will be receiving a high resolution texture pack alongside the PC iteration as well in order to make fans of the post-apocalyptic RPG happy.
Bethesda originally made the announcement about next week’s Update 1.9 for Fallout 4 on PC and PlayStation 4 Pro in an official blog post. The studio went on saying that the platforms’ patches are going to be completely free of charge, but it did mention that the update is going to take up a quite big part of hard drive space on PC, with fans needing an additional 58 GB of available space to install the texture pack on their respective rigs.
Even though Bethesda didn’t share any details as to how big the PS4 Pro update for Fallout 4 will be, the company did reveal the features included in the console’s patch. For example, Update 1.9 will bring about native 1440p resolution, increased draw distance (for trees, grass, objects, and NPCs), and enhanced Godray effects for the PlayStation 4 Pro.
Once Fallout 4 officially gets its update with high-resolution textures and upgraded visuals for the PlayStation 4 Pro, it will join the ranks of many other titles that have been given the same treatment for Sony’s enhanced console. For example, the 2016 third-person shooter from Ubisoft, Tom Clancy’s The Division, recently received support for the PS4 Pro. Naturally, it’s still early to say if all older titles will be eventually getting a patch for the PS4 Pro, like Bungie has gone on record to confirm it has no plans for Destiny to receive the upgrade treatment for the console.
Fallout 4 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
