In an interview for Famitsu, Dragon Quest 10 producer Yosuke Saito revals that the MMO will make it’s way to Nintendo NX and PS4 at some point in the future.
Last year, Square Enix unintentionally let slip the first two games in development for Nintendo NX: Dragon Quest X and Dragon Quest XI. After a short while, the company removed that statement, but now made an official confirmation that least one of those games is definitely making its way to Nintendo’s new console.
As confirmed by Dragon Quest X producer Yosuke Saito, DQX is now in development for both Nintendo NX and PlayStation 4. The PS4 and Nintendo NX editions of Dragon Quest X will join the previously released Wii, Wii U, and PC versions of the game. Saito confirmed this in an interview with Famitsu, where he specified that he believes a large number of new players will start playing the MMO once it arrives on NX and PS.
Even though we received an official confirmation that Dragon Quest X is coming to Nintendo NX, it’s unclear if that applies to anywhere outside of Japan. Right now, Dragon Quest X will only be available in that country, but the release of a new console could be the perfect chance to introduce it to other regions. Fans of Dragon Quest that live outside Japan would probably appreciate the opportunity to play it, as it’s the only game in the series that hasn’t released outside of Japan to date.
Another thing that’s unclear is whether or not this means Dragon Quest XI can also be included to the growing list of Nintendo NX games as well. At the time when Square Enix first discussed bringing Dragon Quest X to NX, Dragon Quest XI was mentioned too, but again, that statement was quickly removed. Saito haven’t mentioned the coming of Dragon Quest XI to NX in his Famitsu interview, but it’s understandable to assume that the game is also making its way to NX.
Dragon Quest X is available now for PC, Wii, and Wii U in Japan, and is in development for PS4 and Nintendo NX.
