Xbox Live Avatars Will Receive Wheelchairs

It has been confirmed by the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, that Xbox Live Avatars will soon be placed within digital wheelchairs, which adds more customization options for gamers.

Some time after the debut of Xbox One, customized and cartoony renditions of gamers, fondly refereed to as Xbox Live Avatars, began to make their presence notable once again on the platform.

Giving players the ability to more accurately display their personality to other Xbox and Windows users, these characters were the means for fans to express their gaming persona. That being said, some couldn’t be able to accurately create avatars in a way that’s true to them – with one of the most noticeable absences being wheelchairs.

Reasonably fed up with waiting, a fan took to Twitter with the inclination to start a petition for the addition of wheelchairs to the Avatar app. Before making such a move, however, Microsoft’s head Phil Spencer confirmed that just such an option is going to arrive for gamers in the near future, making the user sure that such a move is not far off.

Because of the fact that wheelchair support for Xbox Live Avatars is something that lots of fans are looking forward to since the program first arrived on Xbox 360 in 2008, it’s nice to see that Microsoft is finally satisfying the longstanding desires of handicapped gamers – although after eight years after the feature’s debut.

Even so, this move by Microsoft demonstrates that the company is indeed listening what fans have to say in regards to the future, and that’s going to expand well beyond tweaks to avatars.

It is more than obvious that the firm pays attention to its core software desires. Especially that given the fact that it’s already started putting polls up to see whether the consumers are interested in seeing the Perfect Dark’s Joanna Dark and Crackdown’s Agent join Killer Instinct. The longstanding list of fans will definitely be addressed, but there undoubtedly will be a bunch of tweaks and additions to the ‘Xbox’ brand that Gates has in mind.
