Star Wars Battlefront Offline Skirmish Mode Has Arrived

Star Wars Battlefront has received a new offline game mode called Skirmish, including a few other changes.

Clearly offline Star Wars Battlefront players may have found little to keep them engaged. The game’s focus is mainly on multiplayer, so much so that John Boyega has even criticized the lack of single player story mode in the game.

Luckilly, offline players have something to look forward to when the offline Skirmish mode got revealed, and the new game mode has arrived on time. Skirmish arrives in a new patch for Star Wars Battlefront, which showed up today. The new mode will allow players to take part in split-screen co-op, including single player against boss, for both Fighter Squadron and Walker Assault game modes.

This new Skirmish mode is not going to be the only addition to Star Wars Battlefront in this new patch, either. Beside Skirmish, DICE has made a number of little changes to the way the game works, as well as fixes for weapons and removing certain bugs. In the meantime, few Heroes have also been tweaked, such as Lando, Dengar, and Boba Fett.

Even though Star Wars Battlefront was clearly created with a multiplayer focus in mind, this vision could’ve been enforced. EA Studios boss Patrick Soderlund has announced that Star Wars Battlefront was developed with specific goal: making sure that the game’s release lined up with the launch of Episode VII: The Force Awakens. With this being said, a greater depth of gameplay seems to have been pushed aside in favor of making sure that the game’s release gets as high as possible level of polish.

To make sure offline players are happy is undoubtedly in DICE and EA’s best interests, and could perhaps revive some of the Star Wars Battlefront player base. The title has witnessed a tremendous drop-off in players, so much that Battlefield 4 has more daily users than Star Wars Battlefront. As expected, Battlefield 4 has 50% more daily players than Star Wars Battlefront.
