Capcom announced the addition of a free DLC map for its multiplayer shooter, Umbrella Corp, featuring the Spencer Mansion from the first Resident Evil.
Umbrella Corp hasn’t been received well by most of the public. With its current Metacritic score hovering in the mid 30’s, it’s obvious that Capcom’s attempt to have a competitive multiplayer shooter set in the Resident Evil universe is a total failure.
Regardless of the fairly negative reviews, Capcom still tries to win back the kindness of its fans by including a free DLC map for Umbrella Corps that will be set in the mansion where the first Resident Evil takes place. The release of this map is going to attract huge number of fans of the original Resident Evil series, which focuses more on horror instead of the bullet spraying, fast paced gameplay of Umbrella Corps.
Capcom has been having problems with keeping fans happy for a while now. One instance of this problem is that the game developer and publisher messed up the release of the much played Resident Evil 7 demo, which resulted in a failure to give players a clear picture of what the final game will look like.
This whole negative press looks like it’s gotten Capcom’s attention, so beside the recent announcement of the free Umbrella Corps map, the publisher also stated recently that the company is watching player feedback about the Resident Evil 7 demo closely. The company has also released another statement addressing the strange mannequin finger that exists in the Resident Evil 7 demo, but it seems to serve no purpose in the game.
Although this news of Capcom’s attempt to prove customer relations is a good sign, it’s interesting to see if it’s enough to keep players happy. Capcom is a company that has had trouble giving fans what they want out of their favorite franchises, with Umbrella Corps as a perfect example of this.
Umbrella Corps is now available for PC and PS4.
