Red Dead Redemption Runs Better On Xbox One

A recent side by side video that compares Red Dead Redemption’s Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions shows better performance on Microsoft’s latest console.

Fans of the game have wondered whether or not it’s visuals have been boosted, now that Rockstar Games’ wildly popular open world western title Red Dead Redemption has made it to the Xbox One.

Thankfully, the people over at Digital Foundry have recently performed a side by side comparison that shows Red Dead Redemption advantages from being ported onto the Xbox One. As stated in Digital Foundry’s performance analysis, one of the main reasons that Red Dead Redemption looks way better on Xbox One as opposed to its Xbox 360 equivalent is due to the backward compatible version’s smoother frame rate.

Even though it’s not a huge difference when compared, Red Dead Redemption plays at a consistent 30 frames-per-second on Xbox One, while the original version on Xbox 360 sometimes goes down to the mid 20s. As it’s shown in the video below, that’s all there is to Red Dead Redemption’s visual component update.

Rockstar Games’ Western third person shooter on the Xbox One is basically the same regarding it’s original, textures, lightning effects, draw distance, and resolution. Simply said, the only advantage to play the title on the Xbox One is just better performance. On top of Red Dead Redemption’s better frame rate on Xbox One, there’s also the game’s multiplayer DLC, which most of it comes free for fans who want to play it on Microsoft’s current generation console.

Even though this doesn’t include every expansion, it gives access to the Mavericks and Myths pack, the Liars and Cheats pack, as well as the Legends and Killers Pack. Taking everything said into consideration, making the game playable on the Xbox One has been a smart move on both Microsoft’s and Rockstar Games’ parts. As it happens, after the announcement that the game is making its way to the system via backwards compatibility, sales have soared by nearly 6000%.

Red Dead Redemption is now available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
