    Quake Champions Gameplay Trailer Revealed

Bethesda has released the first gameplay trailer for Quake Champions, which shows off some classic abilities, fast-paced action, and lots of rocket jumps.

One of the highlights of Bethesda’s E3 2016 Press Conference was the reveal of Quake Champions, the first new core game in the series since 2005. The game was made known via a CG announcement trailer that showcased some of the characters in the game and abilities such as thermal vision and teleportation. The video seemed to specify that Quake Champions will stay true to the franchise’s roots but left players in need for more.

Right now, Bethseda and developer id Software gave Quake fans exactly what they need with the game’s debut gameplay trailer. The video, which can be seen below, shows about 1 minute and 15 seconds of constant action.

The wild pace of the trailer along with the words “Pure Speed” that appear just before the one minute mark are making things clear about what Bethesda and id are hoping to achieve here. Most of the characters in the gameplay trailer are shown how they use the environment or their own abilities to swiftly leap from one side of the map to the other.

The overall look of the game and graphics pay homage to the classic Quake aesthetic but some of the classic weapons and abilities players may remember have clearly been juiced up a little. Assault rifles, shotguns, lightning guns and even the rocket launchers all fire at high speeds. More precisely, blink and you’re dead.

Bethesda has announced earlier that Quake Champions would enter beta sometime in 2016 when the full game arrives by the end of the year. Today’s release of the first gameplay trailer corresponds with the start of QuakeCon in Dallas, Texas. This event lasts until Sunday and will feature the first public gameplay demo on Saturday, so watch out for more news in the next couple of days.

Quake Champions open beta starts in 2017, with a release date coming later in the year.
