New PlayStation Neo Will Come October 13

A listing on Amazon Spain appeared, suggesting that Sony’s upgraded PlayStation 4, the PlayStation Neo, will launch on October 13.

After months of speculations and rumors, prior to E3, Sony has confirmed that it’s working on an upgraded PS4. Codenamed PlayStation Neo, this improved version of Sony’s widely popular games console will introduce improved graphics and a 4K support.

Sony has also promised that the PlayStation Neo won’t impact on the life cycle of PS4, replying to concerns that the release of the high end system could mean that the latest model of the PS4 will be phased out. Although Sony has yet to uncover more details about the console, a recent rumor suggests that the PlayStation Neo may launch as soon as October 13. An Amazon Spain listing (which has since been removed) mentioned a new PS4 with a price tag of 400 Euros and will be released on October 13.

Even though the listing may have been for a PS4 bundle including the existing model of the console instead of the PlayStation Neo, a bundle would be unusual given that no significant games are getting released on that date – The Last Guardian release date for example, is later in the month.

Furthermore, the rumor of an October 13 launch is in line with previous suggestions that proposed that the PlayStation Neo will release later this year. Also, there’s a recently leaked document that claims to come from Sony, listing different specs and features of the console, as well as a statement that all PlayStation 4 titles released October 2016 or later should support both the original PlayStation 4 system and the NEO system. It’s hard to verify the legitimacy of that document but if it’s real enough, again, everything points to an October Neo release.

And finally, a release date in October would also line up with Sony’s previous reasoning as to why the PlayStation Neo wasn’t at E3.
