GTA 5’s Redux Mod Will Make GTA’s Graphics Outstanding

A mod developer for PC released a new trailer for Redux Overhaul, an upcoming shader for Grand Theft Auto 5 that offers improvements to textures, lightning and more.

GTA 5 was one of the most impressive games released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 when it came out back in 2013. Since then, things have only improved. The game has been and still is receiving graphical improvements and plenty of other tweaks after it got released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. But, it’s the last platform that extended GTA 5’s lifespan.

As most gamers know, the PC version of GTA 5 is the only one supporting mods, and it took no time at all for crazy mods to start getting released after support went live. Gamers were able to play as different animals and superheroes, go back in time to earlier versions of GTA and play with weapons and armor from different franchises.

The upcoming Redux Overhaul mod might be one of the most impressive mods ever to be created and Rock, Paper, Shotgun notes that Redux is just a shader mod, but the add on does take a few graphical improvements on, some that wil re-tune everything, starting from textures, all the way to blood animations. Josh Romito, Redux’s developer released a new more than sever minutes long gameplay preview of the mod earlier this week.

If some of the iconic sights GTA 5 is known about didn’t exist, like the Ferris Wheel, people might think that it’s a whole new game. Some of the new weather effects, like the on that occur at 01:00AM are extremely impressive. The developer of the mod said that he wants to take things one at a time but he now posted a message saying that he plans on announcing a release date within the next day or two thanks to all the attention the mod received.

GTA 5 isn’t the only PC game to get major updates thanks to a mod. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim had a brilliant modding community for years, and long time fans of the game now wait for the release of Beyond Skyrim and Enderal, both of which will offer graphical updates, and new environment and content. These shouldn’t be confused with the official update by Bethesda, Skyrim: Special Edition, as this is a standalone game that will arrive to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in October.
