DOOM’s First Premium DLC Pack ‘Unto the Evil’ Out Now

DOOM’s new QuakeCon trailer not only reveals all of the content inside the first premium DLC known as Unto the Evil, but that it’s also available for download now.

The yearly QuakeCon event started off yesterday from Dallas, Texas, celebrating all things Bethesda. Along with panels and tournaments, fans got to see some of Bethesda’s highly expected upcoming titles like Prey, Dishonored 2 and the first gameplay of Quake Champions. Developer id Software decided to surprise the audience as well with the reveal of a new trailer for DOOM’s first premium DLC pack.

Out of three planned downloadable content packs, Unto the Evil is the first. Three new multiplayer maps are added to the competitive side of the game including Cataclysm, which is a hybrid level composed of a UAC military base and a demonic structure, Offering, which looks like it’s pulled from a Hexen-like game, and Ritual, which seems to be a lab facility slowly getting occupied by demonic machines. Fans of DOOM can check out Unto the Evil’s trailer below.

Besides new maps, players will also get access to a new demon spawn named the Harvester, a monster that’s capable of shooting lightning and teleporting around the arena. Items with new customizations are also available including new taunts, patterns, colors, and armor sets based around robot themes.

Even though the premium downloadable content will come with a $14.99 price tag for non-season pass owners, one of the most interesting features with it is that the new content is going to be available without purchasing it first. Known as PartyPlay, this system lets anyone to use the new Unto the Evil maps as long as they’re in a party with someone in-game who has the DLC. Lots of studios seem to be moving away from paid map packs recently, but this method ensures at the very least that communities aren’t fractured between those with and those without the DLC.

DOOM is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
