The next Hitman elusive target has been officially announced by IO Interactive, the Academy Award-nominated actor Gary Busey, and revealed when and where players can take him out.
A few months back, eccentric actor Gary Busey “got” the right to be Hitman’s next elusive target – time-limited targets that players are tasked with killing. Well, now everyone knows exactly when Gary Busey will be added to Hitman, and as it turns out, fans of the game won’t have to wait too long to kill the Academy Award nominated performer. Entitled “The Wildcard,” Gary Busey’s elusive target mission will start on Thursday, July 21st at 5AM Pacific Time. It’s going to last for seven days, so those interested in taking out a virtual version of Gary Busey should do so while they have the chance.
In order to get the opportunity to kill Gary Busey, players will need the Sapienza map, which comes with the second episode of Hitman. Busey was chosen to be Hitman’s seventh elusive target over his colleague Gary Cole in a Twitter campaign sponsored by advertising company Omelet. As part of the deal, Busey provided not only his likeness to the game, but his voice also, which should give fans an authentic Gary Busey murdering experience.
If this stunt becomes popular enough, it’s not unreasonable to think that other celebrities will also get to be included as elusive targets in Hitman in the future. Who those celebrities will be is anyone’s guess, but maybe future possibilities are going to be teased during the Gary Busey elusive target mission.
Anyway, unique content like this can do only favors for Hitman. The game’s public interests started to wane in recent months, with its episodic release structure partly responsible for what appears to be a general shortage of enthusiasm from the gaming community.
